In order to keep up to date, I stumbled, as so often, on Dieter Rams, whose philosophy has a great influence on my work (“Less but better”).
I cheekily claim that the “10 theses for good design” are also applicable to interface design in the automotive sector (even if only in a figurative sense):
Good design is innovative.
Good design makes a product useful.
Good design is aesthetic.
Good design makes a product understandable.
Good design is unobtrusive.
Good design is honest.
Good design is durable.
Good design is consistent down to the last detail.
Good design is environmentally friendly.
Good design is as little design as possible.
